With anticipation high for the first Pantera performances in over 20 years, Pantera drummer Charlie Benante has released the lineup photographs for the upcoming gigs of the band. Iconic guitar players Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell are two of Benante and Zakk Wylde’s most difficult roles to fill, considering the late men’s legacies. The brothers are joined by Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown to maintain the status quo that has been a constant on Pantera’s tours.
Benante gives update on Pantera’s reunion tour.
On his social pages, Benante posted four pictures from the band rehearsal space in New Orleans, mainly of himself with Brown and Wylde, with one photo displaying a blurry image of Anselmo from behind.
Benante wrote the following caption to go along with the four photos: “2 weeks in NOLA with these boys, it’s been a lot of work but how could it not? So much heart and soul is going into it. This is all about the Love for Vinnie and Dime, the fans and the music that these 4 created. I’m really enjoying playing these songs – they sound Great! It’s very emotional and it’s just starting to hit me… see you soon, I need a drink.”
Pantera has announced an extensive run of shows for Latin America the following month, with trips to Hell and Heaven Fest in Mexico, Monterry Metal Fest in Colombia, Knotfest in Chile, and Brazil. Meanwhile, their first proper headlining show, set for Santiago, Chile, had to be moved to an arena three times the size of the original venue after tickets sold out immediately.
In addition to performing at several prestigious events abroad, Pantera expects to headline at several more festivals during 2023, including Germany s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park.
Zakk Wylde is getting pumped for the Pantera tour
During recent rehearsals, Wylde has been rewinding YouTube videos to look at the riffs and solos that Dimebag Darrell played prior to performances. The lead guitarist has been adamant that the reunion tour would not truly be Pantera unless Darrell and Vinnie Paul were in the band.
Anthrax, the main band for the Benante and Pantera Appellation shows , is embarking on the second leg of its co-headlining tour with Wylde ‘s Black Label Society, which will take place in January. Tickets are available for those shows here.
