The early lineup of BABYMETAL featured SU-METAL (Suzuka Nakamoto), MOAMETAL (Moa Kikuchi), and YUIMETAL (Yui Mizuno). This trio formed the group’s core, and they began as a subgroup of Sakura Gakuin—a Japanese idol group. They first achieved moderate success in 2011 with their debut single ‘Do Kiba Snow’, and quickly gained prominence in Japan’s metal scene. Their fusion of kawaii metal with heavy metal guitar riffs became highly successful due to their unique sound. Furthermore, their distinct performance style incorporating choreography, costuming, and theatrics made them stand out from other music acts. BABYMETAL’s unique blend of metal, pop, and J-pop has been thrilling audiences since its formation in 2010. They released two studio albums, “BABYMETAL” in 2014 and “Metal Resistance” in 2016. Both albums reached number one on the Japanese Oricon Albums Chart. Their single “Gimme Chocolate!!” was awarded Metal Hammer’s Golden God Award for Best Video in 2015.

BABYMETAL Grows Up Gracefully in Intergalactic Gap Year on 4th Album

Japanese heavy metal duo Babymetal returned with metal fists swinging for their fourth album, THE OTHER ONE. After taking a gap year to explore the galaxy, Su-Metal, and Moametal have evidently grown up gracefully and given fans something to look forward to.

The album is a mesmerizing collection of heavy metal riffs and dance beats with a futuristic twist. While there may not be as many elements within the music that will raise eyebrows, there’s an unmistakable maturity in their sound that speaks to the growth the two have experienced throughout their intergalactic journey.

DETHKLOK Laughs At All The Haters!

Many people may still be busy laughing at the ridiculousness of Metalocolypse, an animated series, and often don’t take notice of the show’s underlying message. One of the characters, Dethklok, is a metal band that serves as a representation of human culture. This satirical character can be interpreted as an allegory for the modern society and its issues with fame and money. It is easy to see how this band is meant to symbolize our materialistic culture by examining their brutal song lyrics inside tracks such as “I Ejaculate Fire” or “Laser Cannon Deth Sentence”. We live in a world where you can be condemned for your music tastes, and DETHKLOK has proven that they and their fans simply don’t give a fuck about any of the haters!
