Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness, has been on hiatus for a while. Various injuries and illnesses forced him off the road in late 2018. With his upcoming UK/European tour not looking promising for 2019 or 2020, it doesn’t seem he’ll be able to honor those dates. When asked why that was the case, he responded with “I just can’t fucking walk much now.”

Osbourne has been dealing with a lot recently, contracting pneumonia in 2019 and a serious fall at home that left metal rods inserted in his back dislodged. When he revealed an ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease in 2020, he suffered an injury involving metal rods inserted into his neck and not just his back. In June this year, he underwent a major surgery and his wife told the reporter to determine whether or not the surgery was successful.

Ozzy Continues To Find A Way To Rock

Even with everything going on Ozzy has still managed to stay busy. It’s quite obvious how much he misses the road and his fans. Though he’s limited by a number of physical illnesses, he has been able to release two albums: Ordinary Man and Patient Number 9 in that time frame. You can also see him occasionally and sporadically perform at one-off gigs like Tony Iommi’s performance at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England this past July, or his song with the National Football League earlier this year.

An article on Yahoo! reports that Ozzy Osbourne discussed touring following his surgery. He said, “It is so fucking tough because I want to be out there. I want to be doing it.”

He said, “The thing is my head is all right, my creativity is OK, my singing OK but I just can’t fucking walk much now.”

Ozzy is frustrated by the sickness that has been stopping him from doing what he wants to do. He’s never felt this ill before and it’s had a big impact on his life. Ozzy had this to say about it “I can’t begin to tell you how fucking frustrating life has become. It is amazing how you go along in life and one stupid thing can screw everything up for a long time. I have never been ill this long in my life.”

The surgery has helped to keep the musician somewhat mobile. “That surgeon told me if I didn’t have the surgery there would be a good chance I would be paralyzed from the neck down.” Ozzy says.

“It’s a very slow recovery. I’m not good at being sick anyway, and it’s too fucking slow for me. I’ve never been this laid up in my life.”

The Ozzman Is Determined To Make A Comeback

The Ozzman went on to say this about his time off, “I’m determined to get back on the stage again. I don’t think I’ll be doing fucking nine-month tours anymore. But I don’t even know myself. Right now, I’m still in recovery, and I have a goal. And my goal is to get back onstage. It’s the driving force in me. I miss my audience. I miss doing gigs. I miss my crew. I miss my band. I miss the whole thing.”

When this “No More Tours 2” farewell outing started in 2018, Ozzy sounded great. Unfortunately, his health has prevented him from performing on a number of additional stops that were part of the tour.
