Margot Robbie spoke about her experience filming a “mad” orgy scene in Damien Chazelle’s new movie, Babylon.
In an Actors on Actors interview for Variety, the Bird of Prey star opened up about her new movie. She discusses the “crazy, wild” scenes,” and says she is eager to find out how people will react to her performance in this new film.
Mulligan described the opening sequence as “an enormously debauched, crazy, wild party” where everyone is dressed in “very little or nothing.”
Robbie said that the first scene is “pretty much a party-slash-orgy” and mentioned how it “kind of turns into an orgy”.
“When I read the script, I was like, this is like La Dolce Vita and Wolf of Wall Street had a baby – and I love it,” Robbie went on. “But I was like, are we allowed to show that? Are we allowed to show that?
He said, “There were so many scenes where I was like – I have no idea how I’m going to do that. And then there’s the question ‘are we going to get away with this?’”
Margot Robbie will soon star in Greta Gerwig’s live-action take on the beloved toy, Barbie.
The first-ever trailer for the upcoming movie was released today (December 16). The clip provides a glimpse of Robbie’s character in all its glory.
Recently, leaks of on-set pictures of the actor and Ryan Gosling were widely shared online. The actor specifically says she was mortified: “It was very embarrassing.”
“I can’t tell you how mortified we were, by the way,” she told Jimmy Fallon of the leak. “We look like we’re like laughing and having fun, but dying on the inside. Dying. I was like, this is the most humiliating moment of my life.”
When Fallon told her that her images would go viral and she replied “No!”, Robbie quickly got dressed, ran out the door, and skipped down the street.
“I mean, I knew that we had some exteriors to shoot in LA. I knew, OK, once you were doing exteriors, you’re gonna get papped. There’s probably going to be a little crowd of people who are going to stand out, because, you know, we stand out a little bit in those outfits.
She added: “So I knew there would be a little bit of attention, and there would be some photos that got out. But not like this.” There were hundreds of people watching.

Babylon is a movie that was written and directed by Damien Chazelle in the year 2022. The film stars Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo, and Li Jun Li. It tells the story of Hollywood’s transition from silent movies to films with audio in late 1920s.
Chazelle had the film rights to his project set in Golden Age of Hollywood for many years. He began working with Lionsgate in July 2019 and it was announced that Paramount Pictures acquired worldwide rights in November 2019. Much of the main cast signed on between January 2020 and August 2021. Filming began on July 1, 2021, and wrapped on October 21, 2021.
Babylon will be released to theatres across the United States on December 23, 2022. The film’s premier screening took place in Los Angeles on December 15, 2022. No other details are currently available.
