Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee talks about how the Fallen album still bringing her back to life
Evanescence’s 2003 album Fallen has officially sold over 10 million copies in the United States. With much of that total coming from their quadruple-platinum single “Bring Me To Life.” The album has been certified Diamond by the RIAA, which isn’t a surprise given how much it was loved.
In the first year alone, Fallen shot up to 6 million albums sold in the US, notching 7 million by 2008. So while its momentum has slowed over time, 10 million is still a pretty amazing achievement. This means that out of all of EVANESCENCE’s albums, Fallen alone has sold over 10 million units. This is combined in physical and digital formats. This makes it one of only a handful of records to reach this status post 2000. This impressive feat which puts Evanescence in exclusive company. There are only a handful of artists have ever achieved such a high sales figure for a single album.
Amy Lee Discusses Her Plans to Celebrate The Iconic Album
The Rock Sound interview is not the first time Amy Lee has talked about what it would be like to celebrate Fallen’s 20th anniversary next year. In an interview with Rock Sound, she said: “I’ve got an idea of what I want to do, but I don’t want to give too much away and set up expectations.”
“I do have an idea. It’s gonna take a little bit of work. But I think it probably won’t be what everybody expects. I think everybody just is, ‘Oh, why don’t you do a show that’s, like, [playing] the album front to back?’ We’ve been playing so many shows, I would rather do something that, to me… I don’t know. I don’t wanna give it away, in case it doesn’t work out. Maybe I’ll do nothing. Expect nothing, and then if I do something, you’ll be really, really grateful.”
Since their debut album, Fallen, in 2003, Evanescence has been a staple in the rock music industry. The band has achieved great success with the release of their albums and many hit singles throughout the years. As of today, it is exciting to announce that Fallen has now sold more than 10 million copies in the US alone! This marks a major milestone for Evanescence’s career and is evidence of their lasting legacy as one of the most iconic bands of all time.
What would you say is your favorite song off the Fallen album? It’s been a staple album for so many since its release. What’s wild is to still see them killing it in the studio as well as hitting the road with the longtime friends in KORN over this past Summer.
