Our day started at the Austin Motel, where we had the chance to experience the activation for the new Donald Glover series, Swarm. The hotel office was transformed into a convenience store, and we were given $5 in Swarm money to purchase snacks and drinks and even a chance to win a Swarm hat. What a fun way to start off the day!

Highlights from the Austin Convention Center

We heard from some fantastic speakers at the Austin Convention Center, including SXSW Co-President Hugh Forrest and Simran Jeet Singh, the author of The Light We Give: How Sikh Wisdom Can Transform Your Life.

One of the standout moments from the day was the SXSW Featured Session with Chelsea Handler. She looked stunning in a Spring dress and took the stage to advocate for women’s reproductive rights. Handler shared her story of having an abortion in her youth and how it was a crucial decision for her future. The session was incredibly well-received, with a primarily female audience.

One of the most extraordinary things we did today was visit the “Museum of Graffiti: The Art of Hip Hop pop-up activation sponsored by Modelo and Mi Campo tequila. This spot is fantastic and has an open bar. They were even giving out Champion high-quality t-shirts with a bundle of socks, and I even got a Wind Rester Chair Inflatable Lounger. We also heard from Raekwon of the Legendary Wu-Tang Clan and the iconic music photographer who photographed all their early albums, Danny Hastings. They shared stories about the early days and how the covers were made.

Another night highlight was the Variety Power of Comedy Awards ceremony, sponsored by Inspired Brands. The event took place at the Creek and the Cave, a super small venue with a capacity of around 200 people. Celebrities and their friends surrounded us, and we even saw Katie Couric in attendance! Some award winners included Eric Andre of the Eric Andre Show on Adult Swim, Chelsea Handler, Jake Johnson, Anna Kendrick, Patton Oswalt, Phoebe Robinson, Tim Robinson & Zach Kanin, Rachel Sennott, and Bob Odenkirk.

Late Night With The Devil Premiere

We also attended the premiere of Late Night With The Devil, where we had an enlightening Q&A session with directors Colin and Cameron Cairnes and actor David Dastmalchian.

Flamifest at Flamingos

To cap off our night, we headed over to Flamingos on 6th St for the first night of Flamifest, an unofficial ska and punk showcase. The legendary ska band, The Toasters, headlined the night, and it was such a fun way to end our day!
