The Gathering of the Juggalos Rose From The Ashes & Exploded In Clown Love [Photo Gallery]

The Gathering of the Juggalos took place this past weekend at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio. Now, that the post Gathering depression is setting in for so many. We figured it was time to help lift your spirits just like the Gathering rose from the ashes. What a fun time connecting with so many and living the best Gathering memories one can make. Our photojournalist Amy Harris was on hand to capture so many sights and joy on so many faces.

Megadeth & Lamb Of God Metal Tour of the Year Kicks off with a Bang

Megadeth & Lamb Of God Metal Tour of the Year Kicks off with a Bang

Metal Tour of the Year Kicks off with a Bang

( and literal flames)

Review and Photos: Ursula Rogers

Headliners, Lamb of God, and Megadeth brought the heat to an already sweltering Texas summer day. Hatebreed and a band I truly enjoy, Trivium, were the opening acts. It’s been some time since Austinites have seen a Friday night like this. For many music lovers, it’s been over a year since they’ve had the opportunity to witness a live concert. This was a great show to break that unfortunate streak.

This was my first time seeing each band live. I had a slight expectation but was excited. Each band surpassed my atmospheric predictions. Each note was the musical equivalent of taking shots of vodka. This show had some of my favorite aspects of metal and its subgenres: the poetic, the erratic, and the melodic.

Hatebreed

Hatebreed was added to the tour as a replacement for the Swedish heavy metal band, In Flames. They had some issues with obtaining visas and there is a global pandemic. I know the least about Hatebreed, from this line-up. The Connecticut-based band opened with Empty Promises, from their 1997 Satisfaction is the Death of Desire and was an instant smash. Musically, they truly won me over with the syncopated rhythms of their next song, Instinctive( Slaughterlust). It was their first live performance of the song. They clearly loved the crowd and the crowd loved them. The excitement sparked with electricity through the air. I’d be thrilled to see them perform again.

Trivium

Though I’m a new fan of the Grammy Award-winning, Florida-based band Trivium. I was thoroughly excited to see the metal band comprised of Matt Heafy( lead vocals and guitar), Corey Beaulieu(guitar), Paolo Gregoletto (bass), and Alex Bent( drums). They delivered. Everyone had total command of the stage. They performed songs from their 2021 yet-to-be-released album, ‘In the Court of the Dragon’, and opened with the song of the same name. Apparently, they had been working on riffs for the song last year. The lyrics continue to have roots in mythology like previous work:

In the court of the dragon
Death of gods and world
In the court of the dragon
You will know your worth

Lamb of God

For Lamb of God, it had been more than a year since they last performed and the 15th anniversary of their album, Sacrament. Their performance began with a gunshot-like bang as the kabuki dropped to reveal the veteran band in their element(truthfully every performer was). The crowd erupted as vocalist Randy Blyth paced across the stage like a wild animal. The combination of showmanship and musical ability left me wanting more. In addition to entertaining vocals, there was pyrotechnics. What is a small-town Texas girl to do but revel in the atmosphere and enjoy the show?

Megadeth

Friday night in Austin, Texas marked the first time Megadeth performed with bassist James Lomenzo in years. A sex scandal with former bassist, David Ellefson caused him to be replaced Lomenzo was a previous bass player with Megadeth from 2006-2010. He played on the United Abomination(2007) and endgame (2009) and he didn’t miss a step on stage. It also is the first time lead singer Dave Mustaine has performed since he has gone into remission for throat cancer. Even with these difficulties, Megadeth proved why they have sustained over so many decades. Everything from set design to the way they moved together was amazing.  They were all so mesmerizing.

If you have the chance to see the Metal Tour of the Year. You’ll regret nothing but forgetting your earplugs.

Megadeth & LAMB OF GOD Tour With Special Guests Trivium & Hatebreed Ready To Kick-Off

Hatebreed To Join Metal Tour Of The Year In Replacement of In Flames

In just over a month, the must-see Metal Tour Of The Year co-headlined by MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD will lay waste to cities across North America as the highly anticipated trek finally hits the road. Joining them as previously planned will be special guests TRIVIUM, however, it has been announced today that due to international visa issues, special guests IN FLAMES will not be able to join the tour. Fans should not fear, joining the tour in their place will be none other than HATEBREED. Tickets and VIP packages for this most epic metal extravaganza are on sale now from LiveNation.com.

MEGADETH, fueled by Dave Mustaine’s triumphant return to the stage following his diagnosis and recovery of throat cancer, will finally embark on their first North American tour since 2017. Speaking on the long-awaited announcement of the rescheduled run, MEGADETH’s leader and frontman, Dave Mustaine says,
“Can you hear that sound of armies on the march – of destruction on the horizon? That’s this tour, coming for you. We cannot wait to return to the stage and I promise you you do NOT want to miss these shows. You’re not going to know what hit you!”

LAMB OF GOD pressed ahead with the release of their crushing self-titled album, Lamb of God, which was one of the best-selling metal albums of 2020. The band now looks to take the show on the road as they return to the stage for the first time since the release of the record. Randy Blythe, inimitable frontman of LAMB OF GOD, adds,

“It’s been far too long since we got together to do our thing— by ‘we’ I mean bands, road crew, bus drivers, truck drivers, local venue staff, vendors, audience, parking lot attendants, the freaking janitors- the whole damn enchilada. ALL OF US. TOGETHER. Everyone has been waiting, but the time has come to put the puzzle back together— I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been more ready to hit the road with lamb of god. See y’all in a few months with Megadeth, Trivium, & now Hatebreed. Over a year with no live music? These shows are gonna be INSANE…”

Produced by Live Nation, the epic, the rescheduled tour will now kick off on Friday, August 20th in Austin, TX, and hit a further 27 cities before wrapping in Quebec City, QC on Saturday, October 2nd. Full tour itinerary below.

Cobra Kai Season 4 Teaser Confirms Return of Karate Kid Villain

Cobra Kai Season 4 Teaser Confirms Return of Karate Kid Villain

The final episode of Cobra Kai Season 3 offered some pretty serious hints that Season 4 would mark the return of the villainous Terry Silver. The person who founded the Cobra Kai dojo. He was given a secret backstory throughout Season 3. With the reveal that he was a prisoner of war. Alongside John Kreese in Vietnam, was a scene within the finale that saw Kreese devour the phone to call an old war buddy. It seemed as if Silver’s return was a certainty. However, any doubt that this was a misdirection has now been put to rest. Netflix has officially confirmed Terry Silver’s involvement in Cobra Kai Season 4.

On Thursday morning, Netflix released a brief teaser for Season 4 of Cobra Kai. It showed the rear of a modern-day Terry Silver, played once more by Thomas Ian Griffith. The teaser video featured a voiceover from the character, featuring lines of his dialogue from The Karate Kid Part III. you’ll watch the video above!

“Since the start of the series, we’ve been carefully orchestrating the proper moment to unleash Cobra Kai dojo co-founder Terry Silver back to the universe,” executive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg said during a statement. “That moment is now. We can’t await the entire world to experience Thomas Ian Griffith’s majestic return to the franchise.”

In The Karate Kid Part III, Silver presented himself as an ally to Daniel LaRusso. Telling him what proportion further he could take him in karate and drawing him far away from Myagi. However, Silver proved to be far more of a villain than he initially let on.

While Season 4 is bringing another foe back to the fold, Daniel and Johnny appear to be stronger than ever, as they ended Season 3 by joining forces for the very first time.

This Just In: Johnny Knoxville Says Jackass 4 Will Be His Last

This Just In: Johnny Knoxville Says Jackass 4 Will Be His Last

After over a decade faraway from the infamous stunt franchise, Jackass is returning this fall with a fourth movie. Co-creator Johnny Knoxville is back, having crafted a brand new set of pranks with Jeff Tremaine, Spike Jonze, Steve-O, and Derek Freda, along side starring in Jackass 4, but it’ll apparently be the last movie within the long-running series.

Jackass began as an MTV television series that premiered in 2000 and has since expanded into a full-blown movie franchise, along side inspiring more cringe comedies like Bad Grandpa and Netflix’s recent release Bad Trip with Eric Andre and Lil Rel. Johnny Knoxville recently explained why Jackass 4 is his last:

You can only take so many chances before something irreversible happens. I feel like I’ve been extremely lucky to take the chances I’ve taken and still be walking around.

Of course, he’s talking about his own body because the Jackass mastermind recently ringed in his 50th birthday. He stands pleased with the raw stunt material that has shocked fans of the franchise over the years, but he’s capping his limit at four movies, believing that his luck may run out if he pushes his body too far.

Johnny Knoxville spoke about the choice to GQ Magazine, while teasing why he decided to revive the franchise about ten years after the discharge of Jackass 3D. He amassed around 40 to 50 ideas over the years between the third movie and therefore the filming of Jackass 4. The upcoming movie recently wrapped shooting and is predicted to return out later this year.

Over the years, the Jackass movies have left its cast to be electrocuted, chased by animals… and, of course, participating in nut shots, all for the audience’s laughs or gross-out reactions. And behind-the-scenes, Jackass 4 has recently skilled some drama regarding Bam Margera, who went on a rant laced with f-bombs about the project early this year.

The stunt performer was fired from the project due to breaking contracts associated with his sobriety. Bam Margera visited the hospital for a staph infection for a tattoo gone wrong.

Jackass’ Steve-O has teased a stunt involving paralysis within the fourth film, recently saying that he may have talked a doctor into “dressing up as a clown” and putting a four-inch needle into his spine to paralyze him from the waist down. Time will tell how Jackass leaves its stars and apparently ends the franchise when the fourth movie comes out.

Jackass 4 is anticipated to star Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Jason “Wee Man” Acuña, Preston Lacy, Chris Pontius, Ehren McGhehey, Dave England, Jasper Dolphin, and Eric Andre.
