We Got Cows! Twisters Directed By Lee Isaac Chung Is Coming In 2024

Universal has finally set a date for the long-awaited sequel to Twister, Twisters. The film will be released on July 19, 2024. As a result, Lee Isaac Chung, the Oscar-nominated director of Minari, and crew have roughly one year and a half to complete production. From a script by Mark L. Smith of The Revenant, Chung will direct the sequel. It is expected to begin filming in the spring.

Twisters is expected to follow the storm-chasing career of the daughter of Jo (Helen Hunt) and Bill Harding (the late Bill Paxton), though little is known about it. Hunt is expected to return to the project, produced by Frank Marshall and co-financed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Jan de Bont directed the first film and spoke to news of a reboot in 2020. Kathleen Kennedy, now the head of Lucasfilm, produced the original, which made $494.5 million at the box office.

“I read that like a month or two ago. I said, ‘Wow. Are they going to do the F5 now? I bet you that’s what it is,'” de Bont shared with Collider about the project. “You can’t make it happen by making it bigger; many movies like that failed. You have to come up … with people involved in it; you can’t just …” It’s like, I’ll work on the destruction scene. We’re going to get worse, and whole cities will be destroyed. That’s like falling into the trap of having special effects completely take over.

The Plot For The Original Twister

He reunited with his old storm chasers to make sure his wife Jo (Helen Hunt) signed the divorce papers so that he could move on with his new relationship in the original film. The timing of these efforts coincided with the debut of a high-tech device they’d spent years working on. Bill reunited with his team to see his creation unveiled, leading to several action-packed sequences of tornadoes causing chaos in Oklahoma.

The original Twister film is an exciting and charming 1996 disaster film about a group of storm chasers pursuing tornadoes. At the time, the movie was hailed for its groundbreaking special effects. The cast, including Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, provides a solid and likable set of main characters. It also contains a compelling story that audiences can’t get enough of from start to finish. All in all, Twister remains popular with audiences because it’s an entertaining film with some heart.
