Rumors have been swirling around the Disney+ Star Wars show, Ahsoka. This week, Making Star Wars reported that Hayden Christensen possibly returning to play Anakin Skywalker for the series. (Of course, any mention of Anakin and Ahsoka reminds us all of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s last experience with Darth Vader and his appearance in the Disney+ show.) Could our female Jedi Padawan finally have her chance at developing a personal relationship with her former master? Fans certainly hope so! Check out all the buzz here.
“It’s thrilling, I gotta tell you,” Dave Filoni told Empire of the process of writing the series. “It’s something you imagine doing for a long time. And then it’s kind of startling when you’re sitting there, and now you have to do it.”
“I thought of this adventure for Ahsoka for a long time, and it’s interesting to see how it’s evolved,” the writer mused. “Years ago, I never would have imagined that it was sprung from a branch of a tree that had anything to do with a guy [like] Din Djarin, or a child that looks like Yoda. It’s a great lesson for me on how, when you have other creatives like Jon Favreau, they can help lend such dimension and depth to what you’re doing.”
The new series, Ahsoka, is coming to Disney+. It’s set in the time period after Return of the Jedi and follows the character Ahsoka Tano. The series is a spin-off of The Mandalorian and other interconnected Star Wars media.
Rosario Dawson stars as Ahsoka Tano, reprising her role from The Mandalorian. She is a character that was first seen in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and made her live-action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian. A spin-off series about the character was announced on December 2020, with Rosario Dawson reprising her role and Dave Filoni writing. Filming began on May 2022, with multiple characters from Star Wars Rebels revealed to be appearing.
Ahsoka is slated to be released in 2023.
