Rick and Morty | Pickle Rick Goes To Therapy | HBO Max
What was the best line in this scene?
That therapist gave Rick a huge dose of reality.
Rick: I’ve sustained a lot of damage, I’m pretty close to death, which the serum will prevent.
Morty: Mom it sounds like you should probably give him the serum right now!
Beth: In a minute, Morty. Let’s finish our family counseling first.
Summer: Jesus mom! He just said he’s dying!
Beth: FAMILY COUNSELING COMES FIRST!
Ah yes, tell don’t show: the episode.

The therapist was such a therapist.
Reading the comments makes me realise how many Rick and Morty fans could benefit from therapy
Rick was really put in his place here.
Susan Sarandon has such a soothing voice.
The day this show died
imagine being a god which can change anything… but get defeated by a totaly normal human being…
Clearly I’m in the minority here because this is my single least-favorite scene in the entire show.
This is it. The is the episode where the show went from a fun parody of sci-fi tropes to a pompous pseudo-intellectual self insert ridden drag of a show.
I love how so many commenters here are supremely offended when someone insinuates that the therapist beat Rick.
They like to project themselves on Rick and live vicariously through him because they see him as an unstoppable god who does whatever he wants, and the mere implication that he (or they) could be taken down a peg – by just a therapist, no less – is a horrifying thought.
I wonder if the people who say this was an L for Rick have actually gone to therapy.
That was the biggest “nothing burguer” I ever heard.
Susan Sarandon?
Everyone is saying the Therapist “beat” Rick.
One, you don’t understand therapy. Clearly. You should get some therapy, you probably need it more than I do at this point.
Two, they met as equals. He challenged her, she respected him as she met his level. She continued to respect Rick through the entire speech, gave him solid advice, as well as an amazing part to continue moving forward as a…. well decent human being isn’t going to EVER describe Rick but you get the point. You can see it in later episodes when Rick stops accusing people as often, starts to take blame without throwing it on someone else, and tries to understand Morty and everyone else more.
He respected her by not being Rick, you know just over-talking and then INVENTION.
You can even hear it with “When I am HEARING is” instead of Rick saying “Now what stupid thing you said was…” in later seasons.
Nobody beat anyone. Rick was given a great solution to a lot of his problems and was told that he was capable of changing them, because he is. So are you.

The irony is that for a lot of us, we desperately wish we could live our lives as a never-ending adventure, breaking the chains of society, and fulfilling our dreams without caring about what comes next or how to sustain it. Better to burn out than to fade away, as it were.
But for most of us, we hate fading away… but we also don’t really want to die. Because we’re cowards. So we choose to do work instead of going on an adventure.
Or we watch Rick go on an adventure and live vicariously through him. We are still cowards, but we burn a little brighter, in a way. A fake way.
dr wong is so calm even they swear
Like the wisest exchange in the history of tv series and cartoons
Cant defeat a pickle
rick was like “this is the world I wanna live in”
therapist was like: “well this is in fact the world we live in unfortunately for you and I both”
This is the only person who has bested Rick in some form of intelligence.
The power of averageness reducing Rick Sanchez to helpless silence.
That was deepππ
and look how it has affected him now in the latest of season 6… rick’s going further as a character.
A dublagem brasileira Γ© sensacional eles acertam muito atΓ© no tom de voz dos originais
This monologue was written by an asian female writer… make of that what you will
people say this was spoon feeding to rick, and yeah
yeah it was
and that’s good, because people in the real world need to hear this too, it’s useful information
I feel like itβs more to this part can sb explain π₯Ί
In the new season he goes to therapy and likes going.
My heart.
I like the episodes where we get so see Rick without his defense mechanisms. Like the person using his toilet episode. Or the unity episode
I need that therapist
Rick was Not defeated he was helped, and in later episodes he does change for the better.
therapy is not.. me versus you
win or lose
it’s about helping each other mentally and possibly getting a breakthrough.
Shes the most op character in the show
This character is so bad that one of the writers created a self-insert just to bash him. π ππ
Therapy is Ultima Power hahaha, manipulation and persuasion is key when your talking to someone who is vulnerable.
Susan Sarandonβ€β€
Beth’s stare just kills me lmao
Can we all give credit to how nonchalant the therapist is about rick and his whole family? I mean, that therapist probably said things that session she NEVER thought she would ever say and saw things she never thought she would see… and she’s just so calm and unfazed by it.
One of the best scenes in the whole series on my life
I like that he still sees her.
I need this therapist
Everything was spot on right up until she said everyone gets to choose which is complete and total b******* last time I checked there’s a bunch of c********** with guns that joined the army and the police forces and literally Force f*** you into participating with this retarded society created by humanity there is no choice you must f****** participate or die to get the f*** away from other humans
She is Queen status π©π»π
How many times you think Rick ended her in his mind while she was talking π€π€
There is a reason a lot of the fans hated the doctor: because she called out all of them out
Imagine being the most intelligent and interesting being in the universe and having some boring Karen talk down to you because you aren’t like everybody else. This is why therapy is pointless for all but the most self-unaware people. This stranger doesn’t understand you. She practically isn’t even the same species as you. Just vaporize her for the lolz and go on with your day. You can tell Rick is thinking about it.
This is when I checked out of the show tbh; between the fan base and the writing it was just way too “pretentious” for me
