For 50 years, Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon has sported a rainbow on its cover, which depicts prism-refracting light. However, when Pink Floyd posted an adapted version of this iconography to their Facebook to celebrate the album’s anniversary, many fake fans interpreted the rainbow as a sign of Pink Floyd’s support for gay rights, and they were not happy with it.

“Lose the rainbow, you look ridiculous,” one user posted, while another asked for “equal representation” on the band’s page with a “straight flag.” A third commenter made it clear they no longer plan to follow the band. However, after news of this conservative outcry spread, Pink Floyd’s more sensible followers rose up in defense of the artwork; specifying that it is not intended as a political statement (contrary to Pink Floyd’s traditional inclinations towards overtly political expression).

“Some of you took ‘We don’t need no education’ a little too seriously,” one fan commented, referencing the Pink Floyd song “Another Brick in the Wall.” “I don’t like this new logo.” “The 50 makes me feel old,” another joked. It seems that more jokes are being made about Boomers yelling at clouds than conservative hysteria itself in the original Facebook post. Below, Travis Ackers provides a list of some of the stupidest comments on the post.

On March 24, Pink Floyd will release a remastered deluxe box set of The Dark Side of the Moon for anyone who prefers listening to their music rather than complaining about liberal agendas. Pre-orders are ongoing for this package, which includes the iconic album remastered on CD and vinyl, a Blu-ray and DVD audio of the record, a CD and vinyl of the 1974 Wembley concert, and more.
