Otep’s Comeback with a Heavier Cover

Otep makes a comeback after a five-year hiatus, releasing a heavier rendition of Billie Eilish’s 2018 hit single, “You Should See Me In A Crown.” This version maintains the original’s dark electronic essence while incorporating an intensified blend of breakdowns and screamed vocals.

Otep’s Interpretation of the Song

Otep shares her thoughts on the cover and the original song, stating, “To me, the song serves as a caution against cultural simplification, biased underestimation, and the unstable anti-Newtonian response of judging someone before recognizing their true power.

Upcoming Album Update

Regarding her upcoming album and follow-up to 2018’s Kult 45, Otep revealed in a Wired In The Empire interview last September that the project is gradually taking shape.
