ORGY, the popular goth rock band from the late 1990s, released a 1998 remake of the New Wave classic hit “Blue Monday” that has become one of their most successful songs and swiftly propelled them into the hard rock stratosphere of success! “Blue Monday” rapidly sold over one million copies and currently stands at over two million copies sold, making it one of the most popular remakes in music history.
The original song was released in 1983 by the synth-pop group New Order, and featured iconic revolutionary lyrics and a unique 1980’s electronic sound. ORGY’s version pays homage to the original while adding their own take on the classic track. With heavy guitar riffs and darker lyrical content, ORGY stayed true to their roots while creating something new.
When speaking about their version of “Blue Monday”, vocalist Jay Gordon had this to say: “We wanted to stay true to New Order’s original vision while bringing our own energy to it. ”
And now ORGY are gearing up to to unleash their highly anticipated ‘NEWMUSIC’ EP that’s expected to drop sometime in the Summer of 2023! To kick start the buzz behind the ‘NEWMUSIC’ EP, ORGY decided to release their latest sensational pop style single “Empty”!
Frontmain Jay Gordon exclaimed, “I’m really stoked to deliver this track “Empty” which sums up the rigors of both intimate and platonic friendships alike, and how draining they can be to maintain.” “The band is excited about a few up & coming dates; The Whisky a Go Go on March 24, 2023 and most notably Live Nation’s “Sick New World” music festival on May 13, 2023. We will be adding a few select dates along the way, in support of the new music we have coming out soon!”
