Iconic Punk Rock Band NOFX Announces Farewell Tour After 40 Years Together
The iconic Los Angeles punk rock band NOFX recently announced a farewell tour after 40 years together. After four decades of delivering classic punk anthems and critically acclaimed albums, the Grammy nominated band is saying goodbye with an all-out tour.
For their final sendoff, NOFX will perform in 40 cities starting on April 22 and 23 in Austin, Texas at the Carson Creek Ranch (campout). As more NOFX final shows will be announced, leading all the way to 2024. Each show will feature a different/special 40-song setlist for each night. The setlist spanning the band’s entire catalog of music from their classic hits to recent releases. Fans can expect to hear fan favorites like “Linoleum”, “Stickin In My Eye”, and “Murder The Government” during the last run of shows.
NOFX bass player and frontman Fat Mike exclaimed, “This is not a final tour like Mötley Crüe or Black Sabbath.“These are the very last shows NOFX will ever be playing. We are gonna play with all our hearts…With all our joy…And then we are done. We are done done.”
And yesterday, NOFX announced another farewell tour date to take place on Saturday, September 30th in St. Petersburg, Florida. NOFX will be performing three classic full length LP’s from their influential back catalogue back to back. More specifically, ‘So Long and Thanks For All The Shoes’, ‘White Trash, 2 Heebs And A Bean’, and The Decline’. Punk rock legends Pennywise, Circle Jerks, Less Than Jake, Sick Of It All, Codefendants, The Last Gang, and more all all be performing in honor of NOFX’s punk legacy. NOFX formed in 1983, and their 40-year career has been a rollercoaster of successes and failures. The band was one of the pioneers of the West Coast punk scene and launched a decade’s worth of music that blended punk with elements of ska, funk, and pop. Over time they evolved from brash outsiders to adults who never lost sight of their original mission – to make honest music that speaks to real life issues. Now after decades together, NOFX has announced their last tour as a band.
The announcement came as an ultra shocking surprise to many fans because NOFX seemed to still be going strong with new music coming out constantly over the years. But the members felt it was finally time for them close this chapter in their lives together so they can focus on individual projects and families.
