MINI KING 810 Editorial
King 810 are one of the leaders of modern heavy music, straight out of the blue-collar city of Flint, Michigan. This urban decayed city has a vast rich music history that has helped to shape the sound and tone of this band. King 810 specializes in a blend of nu-metal and modern hard rock, echoing the tenacious spirit that can be found in Flint’s bloody streets. Their musical style is often characterized by aggressive guitars and heavy drums, with vocals from frontman David Gunn combining elements of metallic hardcore and rap to create an intense listening experience. With their unique fusion of genres, King 810 stand out as one of the few bands who are able to capture the essence of the “Vehicle City within their vivid murderous lyrics and hellish sounds. Furthermore, they have also become renowned for putting on explosive live shows that capture the intensity felt in Flint’s concrete city jungle nightmare.
Formed originally as just KING (2007) around the talents of frontman David Gunn, guitarist Jason Hale, guitarist Andrew Beal, bass player Eugene Gill, and drummer Andrew Workman, King 810 brilliantly flexes their musical muscles on every track they record. Their blend of metalcore rock is raw and real–it’s a sound that resonates with listeners struggling in the rust belt of America that are looking for something in music to really connect with. It’s hard-hitting but still has a melodic core which draws people in. The band uses its signature style to explore complicated topics such as crime, violence and mental health – but it’s never preachy or heavy-handed. Instead they find creative ways to express these difficult concepts through their music that speaks directly to the hearts of the hopeless. From high energy hip-hop featured inside ‘I Ain’t Goin Back Again’ to softer ballads like ‘ State of Nature’, King 810 offers something for everyone who loves powerful yet thought-provoking music. The current line-up of King 810 consists of David Gunn and Eugene Gill, with touring musicians Hector Dominguez and Johnpaul Vega, respectfully.
