Los Angeles based self-described G-punk outfit (hed)p.e. have just dropped their own brilliant take for the Ramones 1978 punk classic “I Wanna Be Sedated”. The track comes from (hed)p.e.’s anticipated forthcoming covers album, “70’s Hits From The Pit“, due out Friday, February 24th via Suburban Noize Records.
I Wanna Be Sedated” is a bonafide classic of the punk genre and has been featured in numerous films and television shows over the years—most notably in the late 1990’s supernatural hit television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As one of the main characters Spike is a big fan of the Ramones. More specifically, “I Wanna Be Sedated” is featured in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode “Crush”. When Spike ‘tricks’ Buffy into a date, and hums a few bars of the track. Followed by Spike asking Buffy if she likes the Ramones.
Now, (hed)p.e. have put their own spin on it with a raucous mix of punk and nu-metal influences that will surely keep fans of both genres moving and grooving to its catchy beat, all night long! Frontman Jahred exclaims, “We took The Ramones punchy and pissed-off punk-rock and then filtered it through our own metallic HEDPE prism. This is a tribute to the godfathers of Punk Rawk.”
