VOIVOD have been pushing boundaries and creating genre-bending heavy metal since 1981. The Canadian quartet has earned the reputation as one of the most forward thinking acts in progressive metal and experimental punk – incorporating elements of both genres in their sound. From their early days at the forefront of the thrash scene. To their critically acclaimed albums at the start of the 1980’s through the mid 2,000’s, VOIVOD continues to be an innovator, as they enter over forty years as an mighty influential band.

And now the Canadian heavy metal pioneers have announced their return to the US with a run of shows for May 2023. The tour will even feature Brooklyn-based avant-garde black metal band, IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT, as support, this explosive tour will be part one of VOIVOD’s “40 Years Of Morgöth Tales” tour. Even more exciting, the band is currently super busy setting up a special studio project release entitled “Morgöth Tales” to co-exist with the anniversary!

VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin comments: “We are excited to hit the road in the USA in May, with the avant-garde metal band IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT. Snake [vocalist Denis Bélanger] was a guest vocalist on their track ‘Maximalist Scream’, and this tour should take us on a great experimental musical journey. Come join us!!”

IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT’s Zachary Ezrin (vocals, guitar) adds: “VOIVOD is a group that has helped shape the landscape of our dissonant world, and we are most excited and honored to play these shows with them.”

It has been an amazing journey for VOIVOD, having earned a Juno Award nomination for “Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year” for 2022’s “Synchro Anarchy. They’ve e come such a long way since winning the same award in 2018, and their impressive musicianship has evolved so much since then. Voivod’s success over the last few years is due to our dedication to creating heavy metal that challenges both themselves and their listeners. The band always strives to make each album better than the last, pushing boundaries and exploring new sounds. To be recognized with another Juno nomination is truly an honor and a testament towards VOIVOD’s hard work ethic over these last forty years.
