Portland Black Metal Natives TITHE

“Profound Lore presents Portland, Oregon-based TITHE to the label for the release of the band’s second album, Inverse Rapture, confirming the record for February release. With the announcement, the cover art, track listing, preorders, and the title track have been issued.”

“TITHE is a band that constructs an unorthodox amalgamation of death metal, black metal, and grind without straying too far from the fundamentals of aggressiveness and depravity. Conceived in 2017 by vocalist/guitarist Matt Eiseman and drummer Kevin Swartz, the band spent its first years writing and releasing a self-titled EP before finding bassist Alex Huddleston at the end of 2018. This lineup went on to release the debut LP, Penance, in May 2020, which despite the challenge of releasing in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, was well-received. The album explores the themes of psychedelics, mental illness, and the human condition.”

“Their second LP Inverse Rapture evolves upon the themes of Penance and morphs into a more angry, raw, and dissonant form. TITHE’s most incendiary material to date, Inverse Rapture maintains the blazing tempos the trio is known for with dreary, lowering passages strewn throughout. Produced/mixed by Fester, mastered by Adam Gonsalves, and featuring the macabre art of Abomination Hammer, Inverse Rapture is a complete exhibition of viciousness and despair beginning to end.”

“Matt Eiseman writes with the new song’s unveiling, “‘Inverse Rapture’ is about watching my Mom slowly disappear from Alzheimer’s. She caught Covid towards the end and that was what ultimately dealt her death blow. Until she died, I watched her slowly decline for years. You are your memories. Every experience that you have had has shaped the person that you have become. Who are you when you forget all of that? ‘The first wounds. The last kills’ was a quote that I included in the lyrics that was written on a sundial as an ode to the passage of time and the erosion of the human experience. Every path that life takes leads to death. Tedious or abrupt, we are all united in this singular fate. The garden withers. Our breath becomes shallow. Triumphant, death consumes us all.”

Black Metal Legends Dark Fortress Announce Retirement and “The Cosmic End” Tour!

Black Metal Legends Dark Fortress Announce Retirement and “The Cosmic End” Tour!

To our dismay. The Black Metal legends Dark Fortress (formed in 1994) are unexpectedly calling it quits after nearly thirty years of dropping Black Metal classics . With that being said, Dark Fortress will do a tour one final time in May of 2023. But only in Europe. The Spirit and Asphagor will be joining them for the ride as direct opening support before the influential band sadly disbands for good. So to all the metal heads that are able to attend these final Dark Fortress tour dates, this is your absolute final chance to do. You can peep the European Dark Fortress “The Cosmic End” tour dates and their full statement below via V13.net.

Full Dark Fortress Statement:

“We are hereby announcing the end of Dark Fortress,” stated the band. “This has been coming for a while, and it’s been an extremely hard decision. But since we did not want to simply let the band fall apart, we decided to end Dark Fortress with a bang, properly and in dignity, something that we owe not only to our fans and to all the people who have supported us for over two decades, but something that we also owe to ourselves.

“So we are proudly announcing our final tour together with co-headliners The Spirit and special guests Asphagor. Come and let’s celebrate one more time. This will be your last chance to see Dark Fortress live.”
